Little Kiwis had our second outdoor trip of the year on Friday May 4th to Kiwi Valley Farm Park. Our children in the Sky and Ocean class were able to experience the “Old MacDonald’s Farm Tour”. They had great fun feeding the farm animals while taking a stroll on the farm walk trail and gave cuddles to the small animals in the Nursery Shed. All the children also enjoyed taking pony ride in the riding arena.
We always encourage our children to partake active exploration to their surroundings as well as in an environment that is not so familiar to them. With this outdoor trip experience, children were offered a wide range of learning possibilities to explore and reason, and by undertaking these new challenges, children were able to develop their confidence and gain more understanding in their learning potentials. Our children love animals, they always like to read books, draw pictures and listen to music about animals, this experience helped extend their current interest and further developed their knowledge in other living things.
All aspects of the environment- the physical, social, natural and material worlds are part of children’s learning contexts, and we will continue to provide different learning opportunities to foster holistic development of our children.
